Join the Career Center Student Advisory Board! Utilizing student advisor’s programs to assist with advocacy of career services has become increasingly popular within career centers at various institutions across the country. This student group will be trained in career services and will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including presenting workshops, peer-to-peer support, and volunteering at career-related events. The Career Center relies heavily on the assistance of the students at career events. The program will benefit students by providing a unique involvement and professional development opportunity for the student advisors. These student advisors would serve as student leaders at career events and help direct other student volunteers. Student advisors will also have the opportunity to participate in various committees within the organization (such as diversity and inclusion, social media marketing, employer outreach, etc.). The program will offer students an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Student advisors will gain valuable work experience, knowledge about the Career Center, and make connections that will give them an advantage as they prepare to enter the workforce. Finally, If you are interested, you can attend an information session on November 19th: 11am-12pm or December 1: 5-6pm.

The Emory PhD Program puts students on the intellectual frontier of the economic discipline by introducing them to the leading-edge theories and techniques. This training allows students to actively investigate research questions of particular interest and importance to them. Students in the PhD program in Economics at Emory will have access to distinguished faculty eager to mentor students, financial support including generous annual stipend and full tuition scholarship, low student-to-faculty ratio with small interactive classes, research opportunities at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and conduct critical research in the focus areas of Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Health Economics, and Econometrics. Branch is now accepting applications for their Spring 2021 Policy Intern Program. Founded by GT Alumnus Walter Ley, Branch is a new Atlanta startup that uses the best of product and UX design to make information about Georgia's elections convenient and digestible. They have a free, nonpartisan website (www.branch.vote) that walks voters through what will be on their ballot so that they can vote locally with confidence. Branch first launched in Atlanta in May 2020, and they've already had explosive growth, with over 30,000 voters visiting their site as a resource. The Branch team is looking to add talented interns to their team for the Spring 2021 semester to continue this growth and provide a valuable service to the Atlanta community. As a Branch intern, you would have the opportunity to apply your policy background and communication skills within a dynamic tech startup environment. You would be responsible for conducting research related to legislation, candidates, and elections at the federal, state, and local levels of government. You would work collaboratively with our tech team to develop strategies for how to best communicate this research to everyday people. You will learn how to apply modern UX design practices, including usability testing and experimentation, to the field of public policy. The internship will last for 13 weeks and is unpaid. The Bi-lingual Victim Advocate (BVA) will provide direct victim services by receiving calls from Hispanic/Latino victims, assisting with determination of compensation eligibility and completing compensation applications. On behalf of the victim, the BVA will contact law enforcement, the DA's office and medical providers to retrieve supporting documentation of the incident. The BVA will collaborate with law enforcement. the DA's office, medical providers and various Hispanic/Latino organizations including the Mexican Consulate that works exclusively in support of the Hispanic/Latino community. The BVA is responsible for translating service documents (documents needed by the victim) from English to Spanish. The BVA works directly with victims and claimants from the Hispanic/Latino population as well as with the English speaking victims and claimants. The BVA enables the Victims Compensation Program to communicate with the Hispanic/Latino population. The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan policy research organization. CSIS was founded in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. CSIS seeks a research intern to support the Economics Program. The Economics Program’s mission is to illuminate the role of economics in foreign policy and national security and to offer practical economic policy ideas to enhance U.S. and global prosperity and security. They work on the practice of economic statecraft, from trade agreements and investment treaties to financial sanctions and export controls, as well as global economic governance and the domestic foundations of U.S. economic power. Much of the Program’s work is centered on the Asia-Pacific region, with specific emphasis on U.S. economic strategy toward the region and relations with China, Japan, and other key regional players. They also work on U.S. economic cooperation with allies, including EU countries and Asian allies, with a particular focus on the intersection of international economic cooperation and technology policy. Because of the fast-paced work environment, interns should be motivated self-starters who enjoy a wide variety of analytic and logistical tasks and have strong written and oral communications skills. Under the supervision of the Civics Instructor, the Civics Instruction Intern will prepare immigrants to pass the civics exam for U.S. citizenship. In this internship you will offer class presentations about the rights and duties of citizenship as well topics related to the U.S. civics exam; provide one-on-one assistance to students on civics topics; recruit students for civics courses through direct calls and outreach to local organizations; and utilize social media and other communications strategies to enhance advocacy. 2 IAC Alumni Work Here.
The International Republican Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organizatio that advances freedom and democracy worldwide by developing political parties, civic institutions, open elections, good governance and the rule of law. In this role you will develop original pieces – such as blogs for IRI’s Democracy Speaks page – that highlight success stories from in-country programs or analyze issues pertaining to the region; prepare programmatic content for external audiences by copyediting and formatting documents; assist in the development of programmatic reports and deliverables; manage internal databases and draft updates on political events within the region; and attend and draft readouts on virtual events on countries and/or issues of focus.
