Virtual Appointments →

We are offering students the choice to conduct advising via videoconference, but must convey that this method does make ensuring FERPA privacy difficult. Advisors will conduct video advising in a private location, and recommend that students do the same to limit the amount of information that could be overheard by others in the vicinity. By agreeing to videoconference-advising, students are confirming they understand this situation. All student appointments will be virtual starting March 17. You can make appointments through CareerBuzz. When your appointment is confirmed, you will receive a BlueJeans link that will allow you to connect with a career advisor at the time of the set appointment.

Unsolicited Career Advice!

A quick message to my fellow graduating seniors...

We are entering the workforce in unprecedented times. Many of us have been working on job opportunities which the processes were interrupted by this abnormal situation. We've all been working so hard to be perfect, and now it is out of our control. It's been rough. My professor, Professor Deven Desai, took some time to help me figure out what my new perfect would look like, and I wanted to share some of the things I realized.

For Georgia Tech, our normal post-grad tracks have always meant something that is above average. Something to show off that the four or five or six years spent here were worth it. That being said the departure from normalcy in the environment around us, also, lets us depart from our normal "perfect" tracks. Now, in these times of crisis, our normal could look so different for each of us. If that means living at home, working at a grocery store for a few months while you keep applying for jobs, then that is okay. If that means working at a local lobbying firm for some time instead of a big consulting group, then that is okay. If you can afford to, and choose to go back for another degree for a year even though you didn't want to, then that is okay. Just take care of yourself and your needs, until the storm passes. These choices can be temporary; you don't have to do it all right now.

I promise you are not alone in this. There are a ton of graduates worried about the future just like you and me... panicked, upset, kinda hysterical (maybe, this one's just me though). But honestly, you wouldn't be a Georgia Tech student if you weren't stressed about the impending, seemingly imperfect future. And it's okay to feel everything you are feeling. It's okay to be not okay.. and I hope you let that be okay. For now, just be you and keep going day by day because that is perfect.
