Access for Georgia Tech students to this workshop has been made possible collaboration between the Georgia Tech Career Center and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill University Career Services for this workshop.
You will learn how to prepare for and succeed in careers in the non-profit sector from panelists including representatives from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work and the Masters of Public Administration program, the Peace Corps, and non-profit organizations working to address today’s critical issues.
You will learn how your college, community engagement, and public service experiences can help you begin your career in the non-profit sector.
In this workshop, you'll be shown how to use your liberal arts skills and projects to their best advantage on your resume and cover letter, plus learn how to talk to a recruiter about them, and articulate and make relevant all your hard work during an interview.
This workshop will provide an overview of the diverse career fields beyond the professoriate in colleges and universities. The workshop will provide strategies for preparing for diverse careers in higher ed, job searches for higher ed positions beyond the professoriate (including differences between traditional academic and other higher ed markets, how to prepare an administrative CV, framing professional experiences in cover letters, and negotiating administrative position offers), and the rewards and challenges of diverse higher ed careers. Drawing from her own experience as well as her research on higher ed career paths, Dr. Brandy Simula will help those interested in diverse careers in higher ed to develop a better understanding of the career options and how to prepare for and navigate the job market for higher ed careers beyond the faculty track.
