• Seymour Goodman Reappointed USG Regents’ Professor

  Seymour E. Goodman, a professor of international affairs and computing in the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, has been reappointed Regents’ Professor by the University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents. The title is the highest academic research recognition bestowed by USG, and represents distinction and achievement in teaching and scholarly research. 

  

• John Krige Appointed USG Regents' Professor

  John Krige, Kranzberg professor in the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of History and Sociology (HSOC), has been appointed a Regents’ Professor upon recommendation by the Provost and approval by the University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents.

• Ivan Allen College Faculty Elected to Faculty Standing Committees

  May 23, 2019

  Three faculty from the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts have been elected to serve on Georgia Tech Faculty Standing Committees.

  David Shook, associate professor of Spanish in the School of Modern Languages, will continue to serve on the Institute Undergraduate Curriculum Committee; Karen Head, associate professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication will serve on the Institute Graduate Curriculum Committee; and Justin E. Burkett, assistant professor in the School of Economics, will serve on the Academic Integrity Committee. 

  

• 13 Global Development Students are Finalists and Winners at Ideas2Serve 2019

  May 22, 2019

  Students in the INTA/ME 4744 Global Development Capstone course (taught every Spring by Prof. Neha Kumar) presented their research at the annual, campus-wide Ideas to Serve (I2S) competition this past April. All four teams (of 12 students) were chosen to be finalists on the Problem Discovery track, while three of them also won awards — winning second and third place, and the special MBA award.

  

• Three Ivan Allen Faculty Selected for Emerging Leaders Cohort

  Three faculty from Ivan Allen College have been selected for the fourth cohort of Georgia Tech’s Emerging Leaders Program for 2019-2020. They are associate professors Karen Head, Olga Shemyakina, and Jennifer Singh.

• The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs Announces MOU with the U.S. Navy for Fellowship Program

  The Georgia Insitute of Technology’s global footprint took another step forward last month as the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the School and the U.S. Navy to initiate the placement of a Federal Executive Fellow at Georgia Tech beginning this fall.

• U.S. Navy Destroyer Named in Honor of Senator Sam Nunn

  Former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn, and namesake of the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, has been honored by Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer who named a future Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer after him.
